We've been on some backwater station... god knows where. They want to keep us in quarantine for a few more days. The doctors here say they are studying the effects of the wormhole jump, I can tell them right now I feel like shit.
Two days ago the Last Hope left for Altair, stocking up and securing a freighter convoy to head back to Sol. The Immortal and the Independence were left here, they say this is our "rest period." Of course, they told me that back in Sol.
Out here on the frontier the "Great War" is still going. The frontlines have shifted a bit... GTA gaining ground at the same time they lose it somewhere else. But I've heard rumors that the Shivans are retreating. The Great Destroyers retreat? Sounds unlikely to me. More likely they are just regrouping for something far worse than the Lucifer.
But that could just be my pessimistic attitude... I'm one of the few pilots who knows whats really going on back "home."
Well, it's been confirmed. The Shivans are pulling back, and they start retreating faster everyday. The GTA brass are pretty confident that this war will soon end. Yeah, tell that to the pilots actually out there fighting. It seems that this war will never end. Like the Vasudan's say... this is the fulfillment of some prophecy.
Ramsey has been reinstated into the GTA, full honors. Turns out while we were back in Sol a conspiracy was uncovered within the GTI... Ramsey was right.
They gave him a full pardon and gave him his command back. The Independence left for Vasuda earlier today... I wish I could be happy for him... he hasnt had the chance to meet the Shivans upclose yet...
Another promise broken. We were told the Immortal is shipping out to the frontlines tommorrow. God, these pilots havent gotten a break in years... moral is getting pretty low even though our mission may be one that helps end this damn "Great" war.
The Shivans have given up territories in Terran space and have begun full retreat. Intelligence says they have pinpointed 6 retreating points on the frontier. All relatively unexplored systems on the edge of known space...
But whats strange is how they are retreating. It looks more like they are moving to protect these systems rather than retreating. The Immortal has been assigned to Victory II fleet. Victory II has the job of pushing the Shivans back into NE12-38, or the "Hellhole" system.
The pilots call it "Hellhole" because no ones ever been there, and most of the probes never came back. They say there is a black hole somewhere in the system, but who the hell knows. Some of the guy's are nervous, most just really pissed off. We wont even see the rest of the Fleet until we get to "Hellhole." All the destroyers and cruisers are coming from different systems and we hope to pin the 5th,12, and 16th Shivan Battle Fleets in "Hellhole." A pretty good plan, but I can't help but think that it will never work... hardly any of our other plans worked.
We are shipping out today, I'm already shuttling out to the Immortal. I overheard some of the tech talk on the bridge earlier this morning while securing the security weapons cache.
I'm a bit nervous myself now...
It seems the Shivans arent on the defensive. They are taking up offensive positions. Command lost contact with the Independence last night... just like what happened with the battle fleets at the beginning of the T/V War.
I wish I was back in Sol... I wish I were any where but onboard this metal casket...
